Bag Candy - The Ultimate Frugal Gift
Have you ever tried Bag Candy? If you have not, allow me to present to you the story of a sweet that got away from me. I was in the market one day, looking for a product to carry to a picnic, and when I saw that WERTHER CARELESS had a whole display of them, I decided to pop in. After some initial scuffs on my skin (I'm a skinaholic), I stuck to my guns and purchased several different types, including the "Bag Candy" variety. After consuming a fair share, I realized that these particular bags of candy were quite tasty especially since they were filled with dried fruit! That discovery led me to start my search for the best tasting caramel werther caramel.
So, what exactly is werther caramel? Well, as per Wikipedia, the caramel werther is "an American caramel candy that has an addictive caramel flavor. It is made by mixing caramel and cream cheese in a heated barrel, then letting it cool, hardening it, and finally straining it to collect the caramel and cream. The resulting candy is very sweet, with a caramel center that burns like caramel popcorn." Sounds like a mouthwatering treat, doesn't it?
I decided to give one of these candies a try, and was truly amazed. First, I had to decide whether to get the original kind, which comes already hard, or to go for the non-hard variety. I opted to go for the hard version, since I really didn't like the taste of the soft variety. And who can say no to a candy that tastes just like caramel? Aaargh!
Back to the story: After trying several brands of bag candy, I discovered a great candy store whose owner had given me a wonderful carton of werther caramel. I knew I had to get some to gift my coworkers since they loved that candy so much. After all, it was caramel and cream cheese, and something everyone enjoyed. So, my first task was to find some.
Upon arrival at the store, I noticed the weather caramel was packaged in a beautiful brown paper bag. I quickly picked up the plastic bag to find several individually wrapped werther bars, each with their own tag. They were delicious - not like any candy store brands I'd ever tried. In fact, it was hard to tell which candy was caramel and which was cream cheese.
I decided to try three different brands, each in their own individual bags, to see which was my favorite. After my third try, I felt like I knew that I should have chosen. It was as smooth as butter, and I could tell right away which brand I preferred. After only my third leather bar, I knew I was hooked.
When I told my friends about my secret werther stash, they thought I was nuts. They were amazed when I showed them my caramel werther candy stash! My friends were even more amazed when they tried a bite. It was like nothing I had ever tasted before.
Before long, my friends and I were buying werther caramel bags full of our favorite candy. I still get to wonder how someone could resist a bag of feathers. They are so smooth, so rich, and have just enough sweetness to keep me coming back for more. And believe me, I do come back for more!
