Started in 1937 by Frank Weschler, The Bag Candy Shop is a historic landmark on Wisconsin Avenue. Since then this shop has been offering all kinds of candies, nuts & dried fruits from floor to ceiling. There are several locations in New York City and many more are opening all the time. If you like sweets but also like to eat other things like pizza or French fries, you will love going to BAG.
Frank Weschler started this candy store while still in college as an economics student. He decided that he wanted to serve customers his unique candy style. So he bought everything from the bag to the bottom of the bag. From there he put together his store that remains today a historic landmark.
What exactly is inside of each bag? You will find a variety of candies. We have favorites such as white gummy worms, chocolates with caramel, popcorn with nuts and of course the classic Snickers. In addition to all the flavors you will find hard candy balls.
What makes it so different than the other baggy shops? Well the answer is simplicity! You don't have to do any mixing, boiling or even baking. Simply pop it into a bag and that's it! The result is a treat that is tasty and yet so easy to make and so versatile. Have some and let your guests feel the crispiness of the chocolate as they suck on it...
Can I bring my own bags? Well of course you can! You can purchase them pre-made and all you have to do is toss it in your carton. But really that just isn't convenient enough for what BAG offers.
The BAG patented design allows you to fill a baggie with as much or as little as you would like. The manufacturer also offers bags lined with cotton which are lined with foil for an even crisper, crunchier treat. It's great for picnics, trips, camping, tailgating, fairs, school carnivals and more!
Is it safe to eat this type of candy? Yes, as long as you purchase from a reputable dealer. There are no known ill effects caused by consuming BAG products.

And here's a word of caution. Don't give the children too much bag candy. Just keep it to a limit - and maybe even require them to share some with others. (Just be sure to supervise them when they do this.) And always keep an eye on them - kids can be irrational.
And speaking of irrationality, don't mix up your bags. Designate one bag as your "out" bag and label it "in" for the rest of the kids. They won't try to take out what's in that bag they know is yours. They'll just take what is in their "in" bag.
And last but not least, never, ever leave your bags outside overnight. Bags of all shapes, sizes and materials should be placed in a refrigerator-sack for the night or two before you intend to eat. This will prevent any moisture from the bags from seeping into your food and causing spoilage. Also, any bags that are exposed to heat, such as those in hot car tires or ovens, should be put away until they are needed again.
