Cocoa Powder, Milk Chocolate and Ice Cream - Three Different Varieties of Chocolate With Their Differences

Chocolate, yum! Everyone loves it and everyone loves to buy it but if you don't like it too much, you probably haven't tried it yet. That's because most people buy their chocolate candy in a can or a box. The problem with that is, they aren't usually buying it at a real, healthy, organic fair trade-based chocolate shop. So, let's take a look and learn how to make your own chocolate so that you can enjoy all the benefits of chocolate without the harmful, unhealthy aftertaste.

Dark Chocolate, with its naturally sweet and creamy texture, is one of the highest calorie foods available on the market today. But for now, mission taken on chocolate consumption is to develop the all-natural, organic variety. You see, that other types of chocolate most people enjoy isn't just the traditional milk chocolate stuff. That is actually dark chocolate, which is made with either cocoa powder or sugar. So, what is the difference between the two?

Chocolate that is made with cocoa butter is considered the purest form of chocolate because it lacks any other additives or fillers. That means that there are no chemicals or artificial ingredients in it, resulting in the greatest amount of health benefits. In addition to the health benefits, milk powder is not what the cocoa butter is primarily made with, nor should it be. That's because cocoa butter has a higher melting point than milk powder so, when it is added to milk, it solidifies, resulting in less of a chocolate bar and much more of a chocolaty treat.

Cocoa powder is the "divergent" ingredient in milk chocolate. When cocoa butter is added to milk, it forms lumps and clumps, rather than being able to melt and convert to soap as it normally would. This results in less lather and therefore less stickiness in the end product. Milk that has been conched is typically more smooth than the one that is not, which is why liquorice is sometimes added to milk for a smoother consistency.

If you look back at when liquorice was introduced to the world, it was initially used to sweeten wines. As wine became more popular, manufacturers started making it available to their customers for use in milk. Since then, it has become an integral part of many types of chocolate, including both white and milk based.

The main difference between regular chocolate and raw chocolate is its texture. While both are made by mixing the cocoa powder and water, raw chocolate tends to be more brittle and has a much coarser texture. While both are very healthy, it depends entirely on your personal preference whether you want the softer, less messy texture of raw chocolate or the harder, coarser feel of the liquor. I personally like the latter. While both have their good points, each one has it's strong points and it's up to you which you prefer. In any event, both have a unique way of enhancing the taste of chocolate and will no doubt continue to be a favorite for many years to come.
