How Chocolate Is Made and A Fun Fact About It
Chocolate is one of the world's favorite delicacies. It has an appeal to all people, young and old, rich and poor. As a result, chocolate is consumed not only by humans but also animals, plants and insects. When it comes to manufacturing chocolate, there are two main types: dark and light. Both types have different qualities and flavors.
The process of manufacturing chocolate begins with the raw cocoa beans being taken through a cold process to remove dried cocoa powder, broken pieces of cocoa pod and any other extraneous material removed during the grinding process. Once the beans are ready, they are further processed and ground into a liquid. This liquid chocolate mixture is then filtered and bottled for sale. Chocolate liquor, which is the traditional product marketed under several names, is also produced from this mixture. The fun fact about the production of this liquor is that this process produces a bitter flavor, called "bitter chocolate".
In addition to the process of manufacturing, raw beans also have to undergo a process called germination. This is necessary because unlike milk or other dairy products, chocolate does not contain whey or casein when it is produced from raw beans. Instead, the beans have to go through a process that causes their oils to be released so that the beans can be further processed. After this stage, the beans are ready to be roasted.
During the roasting process, the chocolate is transferred to the oven and the roasting process continues until the end of the cocoa powder. At this point, the chocolate is considered to be at its purest, or whiter. During this stage, the chocolate may appear grainy, having gone through some maturation process. When you buy chocolate, it will come wrapped in a plastic sheet already soaked in milk, and/or sugar syrup, which makes the sugar inside the bottle swell.
As mentioned earlier, after the purest chocolate has been created, it is then baked. One way this is done is by placing a pan filled with just enough cocoa powder to cover the chocolate and leaving it to heat up. Once the chocolate begins to boil, it will begin to turn golden brown, sometimes even becoming puffed. This is the time to remove it from the oven, usually while still warm, and place it in a large container, covered with wax paper. Once the chocolate is cooled completely, it can then be poured into its appropriate tin, which was designed for this purpose. For those who are unable to find a suitable tin, it can be melted over a double boiler, which will allow it to fit into almost any container.
A fun fact about chocolate is that it contains more calories than an orange. Therefore, any treat that includes this delicious liquid chocolate should be eaten on a regular basis. There are many recipes out there that call for various types of chocolate and will help you determine a serving size for everyone. Even better, these recipes have been tested repeatedly over the years and can be found on the Internet for your enjoyment.
