Kit Kat - The History of the Perfect Chocolate Bar

Kit Kat candy bars are popular in almost all countries and regions. They are a very popular candy, popular for its variety of uses and appeal. These days the brand is known for both its rich history and its colorful present, having been adapted many times for different cultures and occasions. Kit Kat is a simple chocolate-covered wafer bar, made internationally by Nestle, except in the US, where it's made under licence by the H. B. Reese Candy Company. Kit Kat was developed by Rowntree's of London, a division of the Hershey Company, which was purchased by Nestle in 1988.

Kit Kat

When the Company began producing Kit Kat bars in the US, there were two varieties - one from the chocolate manufacturer itself, and one from the confectioner's contract. The Kit Kat candy that could be purchased from the Nestle contract was referred to as "Reese's Kit Kat", while the confectioner's product was marketed under the name Kit Kat Gold. The original chocolate bars had a shell resembling that of a goldfish, but were coated with Nestle's chocolate liquor and topped with raspberries or other candies of various sorts. After several years, these bars were phased out entirely and replaced with the modern candy bar, Kit Kat Taffy, which had a shell that looked more like a wafer than a chocolate bar. Today, candy of all kinds is sold in almost any shape, size, and flavor, including chocolate.

Rowntree's became one of the most successful American brands, especially after a series of commercials were aired on television, in which an African-American girl spoke gleefully about having Kit Kat bars with her lunch. The company later changed their name to "Rowntree" and their trademark chocolate bars became known simply as "Rowntree". A few years later, as demand for kat bars by Americans increased, it became necessary for the company to find a new spokesperson. Enter Oprah Winfrey. Although the Winfrey camp did not own ketchup and jelly brand, it was quickly discovered that her smile and gentle voice could easily sell any chocolate product.

In addition to being a popular spokesperson, Winfrey became quite the celebrity when Kit Kat became the number one selling confectioner's product in the united states. After Oprah's endorsement, candy manufacturers quickly scrambled to create different varieties of kats with different package designs. Kit Kat America quickly became the top selling candy bar in the country. In addition to her many television appearances, Winfrey has also opened several eating clubs, as well as publishing her own nutrition and health books. It is safe to assume that anytime she opens a book, Kit Kat will be included.

Because of its widespread appeal and massive advertising campaign, Kit Kat has become a multi-million dollar company. Each year, more kids and adults alike get in on the craze. In fact, Kit Kat USA has grown rapidly in popularity in recent years, and over Christmas alone, sales increased more than twenty percent over last year. Even with the success of Christmas and Valentine's Day, which typically bring more American consumers into the chocolate aisle, the demand remains high throughout the year, as Kit Kat chocolates are still the number one selling confections in the United States.

Unlike other candy companies, Kit Kat has a history of creating healthy alternatives. Many of their chocolate bars are made with ingredients such as eggs and fish liver oil, making them an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. They also offer a variety of different options such as soy, oatmeal, chicken-and-egg, and even gluten-free. While a large percentage of their stock is based on traditional ingredients, they also carry a wide range of "alternatives" such as coconut milk, agave nectar, coconut extract, and buckwheat. Despite the high-quality ingredients and a variety of choices, Kit Kat has not lost its touch when it comes to innovation and creativity. In order to keep up with competition, they offer fun chocolate items such as bubble bath, coffee mugs, key chains, and even pencils.
