The Magic of Harry Potter's Chocolate Frogs

harry potter chocolate frogs

A chocolate frog named Harry Potter. Yes, really. The character, from the movie, "HP Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," is gaining fans left and right. And not just in the United States, either.

There are chocolate frog plush toys and teething rings for babies featuring the fictional character, too. And there's a chocolate frog soup recipe book that is a top selling children's book on the planet. It has everything you need to know about the most famous students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And it's written by someone that probably never even saw "HP Potter."

Harry Potter is an orphaned pure-blood wizard who lives with his non-magic cousin, Ron Weasley (Harry's best friend and best magic-man). The name of the fictitious wizard is derived from Rowling's books. The grounds of Hogwarts are enchanted with powerful magic that prevents animals, including snakes, from entering the premises. The only exception is when students are sorted into different houses, such as Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and House Elf.

Inside the school itself are several interesting creatures that serve as reminders of the magical world Harry lives in. The headmaster's office is where the Ministry of Magic is located. In the basement is the department of snake and archanic studies. In the first floor bedroom of the dormitory, there's a portrait of the fictional frog, Quirinus Quirrell. And in the fourth floor bedroom, there's a portrait of Hagrid's hut, which is where Harry stays while attending Hogwarts. Chocolate Frogs makes great pet animals because they're so funny and unique looking.

You can buy chocolate frogs at your nearest pet stores or specialty retailers around the world. But if you're a big fan, you may want to make one yourself. All you need for this project is some chocolate, silicone, an egg, and some non-toxic glue. Other supplies you'll need are an odd-shaped jar, a wire cutter, a non-toxic marker, buttons, a round rubber ball, a pair of scissors, and a hand mirror.

First, you need to prepare a large piece of chocolate. Next, you will need to wrap the egg in a paper towel, then place the egg in the center. Using a pair of rubber flippers, stretch the edges of the paper towel until the egg is covered in chocolate. Finally, press the tip of your tongue against the end of the egg to seal it. Once your chocolate has cooled, you can paint the chocolate frogs and other objects to your liking.
