Three Reasons to Bulk Up Now
The first word out of George Washington's lips in 1776 when he swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States was, "Bulk up." Indeed, he might as well have been reading from a James Joyce's epic novel, "Ulysses," or one of those manifestoes Americans write about: "Keep your powder dry, your arms fat, your chest broad, and your belly fat." But if you've never been to the gym, then you owe it yourself to bulk up, just like our forefathers did. They built up their bodies while they were alive. So will we.
Some people are born lucky, others are not. Some people have a genetic predisposition to building big muscles while others, like me, develop them with minimal effort. Still others, like Washington, surprise even themselves at how quickly they acclimate to larger frames. They might have had to spend years in the military, or they might not have had the opportunity before, but once they reach the age of 22, they have the gene for developing large muscles.
My father has always said that if he could only choose between growing old gracefully and having big, muscular arms, he would choose to grow old gracefully. He didn't get those huge arms because he was a boy, but he did it through sheer hard work. Like Washington, I too am not blessed with giant muscles. So I must bulk up, like Washington did, or I will die trying. And this is what makes the American spirit in action, not only in Washington but also in every president of all eras.
Now if you ask me, George Washington, about exercise, I tell you: "Exercise is the key to success." He was right. But he wasn't explaining why; rather, he was showing you why exercise is the key to success. Washington knew that an army marches on with their heads held high, because the men in their army have been fed, not because they are physically strong, but because they are mentally strong. This is the spirit that must accompany you into battle, because no army is going to win unless the men under them are physically strong and the leader is mentally stronger.
If you want to bulk up, exercise. You need to have the right muscles, and you need to know how to get those muscles into shape, now. Instead of waiting for your body to grow, like Washington and others, and then trying to find ways to add on some mass, which doesn't work (because your muscles won't add on any mass), you need to start working out now. Here's why:
The best way to gain muscle and keep it is through strength training. This means three things: strength, speed, and power. These three things will ensure that you get the biggest bang for your buck when you're trying to bulk up. The biggest bang for your buck? Everything you'll ever need, including more money, because you'll be healthier, faster, and stronger. Try lifting weights.
