Tips For Making Your Own Pastry Dough
Making a pasty is something that a lot of people would like to do. It can be a very enjoyable pastime, whether alone or with friends. If you are interested in making a pasty, the first thing that you need to do is to go to your local grocery store and pick up some pastry dough. Pastry dough is going to be the base for your pasty, but there are a few other ingredients that you will need to make it great.
After picking up your pastry dough, you will need to start baking it. To make a good pasty, you will want to grease your pastry shell with vegetable oil. This way the pastries will have a nice shiny coating on them. You could also choose to grease the pan in which you are going to cook the pastries in as well.
After lining your pastry shell with the vegetable oil, you will need to place the cookie dough on top of the oiled surface. The next thing that you will need to do is to cut off a small piece of aluminum foil, which should be about one inch by two inches in length. After you have placed the rolled out foil down over the pastry that you have just baked, you will need to put the cooked pastry into your cookie cutter.
You will then want to take one tablespoon of the cookie dough and put it into the center of the cookie cutter. The next step that you will need to do is to use a food grade wooden spoon to turn the end of the dough. Once you have turned the end of the dough, you will be able to scrape off any excess dough that may remain on the sides. After you have done all of this, you will then need to roll out your pastry.
After rolling out the dough, you will then want to cut it into your desired shapes. When you are cutting the pastries into shapes, you will need to make sure that you use a food grade aluminum foil that has been placed onto a cookie sheet. After you have placed all of these foil disks onto the bottom of your pastry case, you will then need to take a cookie cutter and cut the pastries into your desired sizes. Then, you will need to allow your pastry to cool, which will usually take about an hour.
After you have finished making your pastry, it is important that you allow the baking to finish baking before you remove it from the oven. Generally, baking should only take approximately one hour, but it could actually take two or three hours depending on how large your pastry is as well as what kind of baking tray you are using. Just be sure that you let the pastry cool completely before you remove it from the oven.
