Toy Candy Is Good For Kids

One thing I have always been a big fan of as a child growing up is toy candy. When you walk into your local mall the first thing you will notice are candy shops, toy stores and of course toy stores. It seems to be an addiction for many children, every day they go somewhere where there are children. As an adult who has lived through this progression myself, I've seen where children come and go and what types of toys they choose.

A few years back my daughter was walking by a toy candy stand in a shopping mall. We were going through the candy aisle looking for something sweet so we could take some with us. As I approached the stand I noticed one of the candy makers had his hands on a bunch of different sorts of candy, I didn't know what it was at first but then I recognized it as Slush Puppies. Of all the different types of candies to choose from Slush Puppies was the only one from our mother had ever purchased us and even asked us not to buy it for us since we were young.

We tried one out and she was hooked. That night I took her to one of our friend's houses who also had a Slush Puppy vending machine. I can honestly say it was the best night of my life as a child because I got to see one of my best friends and I also got to taste one of my favorite candy of all, the traditional white sugar kind. After that night I never stopped buying Slush Puppies for my kids and today, my girls, ages 7 and 10 enjoy them just as much as I do.

But times have changed and other families are choosing not to have these kinds of toys anymore. There are two major reasons why, one is the price and the other is the health hazards associated with them. The cost is very high because of all the chemicals and preservatives used in making them. My daughter's favorite candy has gotten quite a bit less expensive over the years so you can buy some without worrying about your children getting sick from them. In addition to those things, there are also some health concerns associated with them that I won't go into here.

If you're going to have toy candy in your house then you should make sure to get them a nice variety. You don't want them to get too bored with one flavor so have plenty of varieties. My daughter still loves the little cans of minis but the sweetened with honey ones are great for those hot summer days when she just wants a cool drink. It's great to keep some around the house just in case you and your kids decide to go on a trip to the park or to the beach sometime.

When you go to a toy candy store, it's a good idea to know what type of treats you're looking for. Knowing that the nutritional content of the treats you purchase for your kids is important because you don't want them to be tempted to consume more than they should. There are also sugar-free versions of the regular stuff but you shouldn't necessarily stock up on them unless you absolutely have to. Buying the sugar free ones is a good way of ensuring you're not feeding your kids foods that aren't good for them.
