We all know Dr. ounces is a popular brand in the soda aisle of Wal-Mart, K-Mart and other grocery stores. If you walk around any grocery store you'll see the variety of cans, bottles and packs of this soda. It's so popular Dr. ounces has taken the country by storm and there's no end in sight.

But does it live up to the hype? Well, let's get this out of the way - yes it does. Although I must admit when I was in college, there were many drinks that I could have never found at a store. For example, we would drive for hours just to see a can of Red Stripe and there were only two can stops on the route!

Like most lagers it's got about a thirty percent alcohol content in it. To me that's about right. The calories aren't bad either. About average. Since it's a lager base drink I'd expect about three to four calories per can.

Now, to compare it to something like Red Stripe I would say that it tastes about the same. So, it's not as if it isn't flavorful. It is just not as delicious as Red Stripe. The taste of Red Stripe is much sweeter than Dr. oz. And I do mean delicious! If I had to make a comparison, I think it would be easy to say that Dr. oz comes out on top with regards to flavor.

One of the nice things about Dr. oz is that it has so many flavors to choose from. Many of them are fruit based. Like Red Stripe, some of them have fruit flavors like pomegranate, lemon and Mandarin. There are also ones that are mixed with wheat or caramel.

In addition to having these great flavors there is also a nice ratio to them. I like them double. That's about one-half to one-third.

To try this beer, all you have to do is pour one regular size glass into each individual insulated cup. It will be cold when you pour it in but it will maintain its temperature as you sip. One thing to note when drinking it, is that it can keep your mouth dry. Not a bad thing in my book.

As far as taste goes, it really does taste like a lager. A very light malt flavor. Some say it tastes like caramel. It's a light sweet flavor that works well with the style of drinking. The one I drink most of is a wheat ale. It tastes pretty good.

As far as price goes, it is very reasonable. You can buy four 4-ounce cans for around $4.00. It goes great with any kind of seafood dish or a fish dinner. If you're looking for a low price bottle of beer, I highly recommend this one. It will not burn a hole in your pocket and it's a great beer to drink while you enjoy a night on the town.
