Wokka Tea Shop Review
For Wokka LaFFY TAFFY CHERRY, the first of two popular tea-based cocktails from Wokka, the inspiration behind this sweet creation was a trip to the Sweet's Shop located in Dallas, Texas. "The owner, Lynn Villarreal, is originally from Spain and her family came to the U.S.A. When she was a young girl, her mom would bake tortillas for enchiladas for the workers on the factory line. One day, she decided that a tea kettle would make an attractive addition to the shop and it did!
Once Ms. Villarreal added the tea kettle to the menu, customers flock and every week the business thrives until summer vacation when it moves to a new location. The new Sweets Shop building has a giant green roof and it looks great and offers plenty of outdoor seating. During the summer, customers can enjoy the many activities the Sweets Shop offers such as swimming, riding the train, kayaking, picnicking and fishing. There is even a small kids' play area in addition to the teas, juices and smoothies.
While in the Sweets Shop, one cannot miss the Gingerbread Man. It may be the oldest stand on the strip, but it's also the most popular. He is a gigantic gingerbread man dressed in all black and his red hat is always shaded by the gingerbread cookies he sells. He sings and dances and his dance music are always beloved by the children in the store.
The ginger and orange combination is a wonderful complement to the Wokka tea blend. The orange shows up right at the start of the drink and brings the spices to the forefront. When served, the ginger adds a nice kick to the top of the drink. The blend is made to order with a fresh ginger snap ginger bread stick and a squeeze of lemon for that added kick.
During the holiday season, the Wokka Tea Shop offers Christmas specialties such as mulled wine. The wintertime drinks are great as well with scones, Christmas cake and pudding and even a great assortment of chocolates and cinnamon twists. On the weekends, customers can enjoy the Christmas specials as well with specials such as the peanut butter and honey tea. There are no Christmas specials during the summer months, but there are a few special summertime recipes such as the lemon mint tea and the strawberry shortcake.
